Itinerary
8h00 : Our tour guide will pick you up at your hotel, hop in a tuk-tuk for a private ride through the Laos countryside to Ban Pak Ou, located approximately 17 miles (27 km) from Luang Prabang.
Upon arrival, board a ferry and cross the mighty Mekong River to the Pak Ou caves. It’s a steep climb up 250 steps for great views of the Mekong River. If you wish, you can visit Tham Ting (lower cave) and Tham Theung (upper cave) to marvel at more than 3,000 Buddha sculptures, some inlaid with semiprecious stones. Here, your guide will describes the significance of this remote site and its statues that have remained largely undisturbed despite repeated visitors.
Get back on the boat and continue our journey to observe life along the lush river.
Disembark at Ban Xang Khong, where local villagers make delicate paper from mulberry leaves and weave prized Lao textiles on ancient wooden looms. You also visit to Ban Xang Hai village where Lao-Lao rice whisky is bottled, sometimes with a snake or scorpion. Try a swig of this potent drink if you dare!
12h00 continue by boat along the Mekong River back to Luang Prabang. End of the tour
