13-day ‘Highlights of Indochina’ is just that – a journey that covers the very best of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Your journey starts at the incredible temples of Angkor, where we visit some of the less-visited temples as well as the main complex, including the crowning glory – Angkor Wat. We fly between major centres to make the most of your holiday, but also take the opportunity to explore the region – whether it is an overnight stay in magical Halong Bay aboard our traditional boat, or taking time out to talk with local monks in beautiful Luang Prabang.

Itinerary
Day 1: Siem Reap – Arrival
You are welcome at the airport and then transfer to the hotel for check-in. Balance of the day is free time.
Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 2: Angkor Temples
Today we discover the astonishing and mysterious temples of Angkor. Imagine creeping through the temple complex in the pre-dawn light to emerge on the magnificence of the sun rising over this staggering relic. Enter from the lesser-visited eastern gate, so you can enjoy this enlightening experience without the crowds.
Day 3: Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake
Marvel at the stone faces of the Bayon and the jungle-covered Ta Prohm, then glide along Tonle Sap Lake on a boat cruise and browse the old market. Escape the tourist route with an expedition to the overgrown ruins of Boeng Mealea to see what many others don’t.
Day 4: Siem Reap – Fly to Ho Chi Minh
Fly to Ho Chi Minh City with a short flight and take a guided tour in the afternoon. Marvel at its youthful energy as you walk amongst the cities local color along historic Dong Khoi Street, the former Rue Catinat. Gain an insight into recent history at the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum.
Day 5: Mekong Delta excursion
Leave Ho Chi Minh to lush My Tho where we cruise on a private boat through the green vegetation of the canals to an orchard, where we are treated to a delicious lunch in a local restaurant in the heart of the Mekong , complete with tropical fruits. We also visit the snake farm Dong Tam that breeds snakes for, among other things, snake wine before heading back to Ho Chi Minh.

Day 6: Ho Chi Minh
There is no activity planned for today, but there will plenty to do if you so choose. Perhaps you’ll want to hop on a cyclo for an adventure through the city’s winding street as you pass popular sights like Tao Dan Park on your way to a tour of Notre Dame Cathedral. Or, you can simply sample a variety of food and drink at the cities seemingly endless array of restaurants and cafes. You’ll have an overnight stay and have a chance to relax and reflect upon everything you have seen.
Day 7: Ho Chi Minh – Fly to Hanoi
Fly to Vietnam’s gracious capital, Hanoi, and get to know the city by exploring the captivating streets of the Old Quarter. Contemplate the ancient Temple of Literature and infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’, and delight in an evening performance of Hanoi’s famous water puppets.
Day 8: Hanoi – Ha Long Bay
After breakfast, drive to Ha Long Bay with 4 hours travelling for the overnight cruise on a deluxe junk. Begin with a seafood lunch then explore some limestone caves. In the afternoon enjoy a swim or relax in the sun on the top deck or try your hand at some kayaking.

Day 9: Ha Long – Hanoi
This morning continue to move around the bay to find more secluded areas to either swim or kayak. At around midday, the boat will return to the main harbour before transferring to an awaiting vehicle for the journey back to Hanoi to spend the night.

Day 10: Hanoi – Fly to Luang Prabang
A short flight brings you to Luang Prabang in Laos, a tranquil World Heritage listed town on the banks of the Mekong River.

Day 11: Luang Prabang
Enter ornate monasteries and chat with local monks for a unique insight into Buddhist culture, and then take time out to play a game of petanque with the locals. Travel by boat to the Pak Ou Caves where hundreds of Buddha effigies have been placed inside the cave.
Day 12: Luang Prabang
Hone your culinary skills in a fun Lao cooking class, rise early to witness the ancient ritual of local monks collecting alms at dawn, and visit the beautiful Kuang Si Falls.
Day 13: Luang Prabang – Departure
On your last day, enjoy free time until your departure transfer.
