Quang Nam is making every effort to become a classy green tourist attraction. This is the provincial aspiration expressed in the Quang Nam Provincial Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Unique tourism resources
Quang Nam has more advantages in terms of tourism resources than other localities in Vietnam and other countries in the region.
Quang Nam is located in an important place on national and international tangible and intangible maps.
The province has several heritages at national and international levels, such as Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary (recognised as world cultural heritages by UNESCO in 1999) and Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An Biosphere Reserve, which was recognised by UNESCO in 2009.
Bai Choi performance art, another UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage, also plays an important role in local tourism development.
In the provincial tourism development plan, Quang Nam identifies three UNESCO world cultural heritages and one world biosphere reserve as the keys. These tourism products provide travellers and tourists with typical local natural and cultural experiences.
At the same time, they are green tourism models at the international level. The local-specific tourism product is “one destination, three international-level experiences.”
My Son Sanctuary
According to Phan Xuan Thanh, Chairman of the Quang Nam Tourism Association, green tourism is the strategy for sustainable development in Quang Nam, contributing to the identification of the provincial tourism brand now and in the future.
Quang Nam is giving priority to the development of tourism, especially green tourism. Tourism has been playing an important role in provincial socio-economic development.
So, one of the goals is to develop tourism into a key economic sector in Quang Nam by 2030.
Development on the green foundation
Quang Nam tourism resources are helpful for sustainable tourism development in Quang Nam.
Lower section of the Thu Bon river
Quang Nam started its journey of green tourism development in 2019 through a set of green tourism criteria.
Since then, the provincial tourism sector has been running according to this set of criteria. Quang Nam has created spaces for branded green tourism at the international level.
Accordingly, Hoi An will become a typical centre for national tourism. The Cham Islands will be a national tourist area. My Son will be developed as a national tourist site.
Quang Nam will also clear and dredge the Co Co river, developing the Hoi An - Da Nang tourist route. At the same time, Bang Am Mountain will be improved to be a new tourist site.
Ethnic minorities in Quang Nam
Quang Nam is planning to build and put some large new tourism areas into operation in the south-eastern region of Thang Binh, the eastern region of Tam Ky, and Nui Thanh by 2025.
There will be more priority for tourism investment and development. These spaces will contribute to the load reduction in the heritage areas via eco-tourism products, community-based tourism, agricultural tourism, traditional handicrafts associated with tourism, leisure travel, and MICE.
Meanwhile, ethnic minorities’ cultural values in the western region of the province will be preserved, associated with local historical and natural resources for tourism development, diversifying tourism products, and creating a balance of tourism development between the regions in Quang Nam.
Quang Nam is currently building and calling for investment in key tourism projects from South Hoi An to North Quang Ngai, along the rivers of Co Co, Thu Bon, and Truong Giang, Phu Ninh lake, Tam Hai island, etc.
Quang Nam also has a lot of policies to support businesses and individuals who invest in the province.
