Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music was established in 1956, formerly known as the Saigon National School of Music, The school has two majors: National Music and Western music, including nearly 20 majors in instrumental music and music theory. In 1960, the school changed its name to Saigon National School of Music and Drama; In 1975, it was the Ho Chi Minh City National School of Music and from 1981 to now the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music.

Saigon Opera House
Saigon Opera House (Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theater) was built in 1898 by the French architect – Eugene Ferret, following the “flamboyant” style of the French Third Republic. It was set to be two meters higher than the street surface with two door layers, in order to prevent traffic noise. The Opera House hosts cultural entertaining performances, bamboo cirque, contemporary dance, orchestra concerts and government events.
