Phuket Monkey Hill is for its large, habituated macaque monkey population, offering a unique wildlife encounter, a hill covered with immense red and white antennas in the back of Phuket Town. That hill may be easy to see but not as easy to reach: the road climbing to it is opposite the provincial hall, past the old Phuket prison. It’s not a tough climb, but it is quite long, and motorbikes are not allowed anymore. This is also a good place to view over Phuket Town, though some find them less impressive than the monkeys.

Local markets: There are many local markets and night markets in Phuket for visiting or trading, the most popular one are in Phuket Old Town and Patong Beach Area.

Patong Beach is Phuket’s most popular resort town. It has a long sandy beach (about 3 km), an endless choice of hotels, restaurants, and shops. It is an ideal destination for travelers seeking a peaceful beach holiday with upscale comforts.

Rawai Beach is located on the south east coast of Phuket, It is one of Phuket’s most authentic and local coastal areas, located on the southern tip of the island. Unlike Phuket’s west-coast beaches, Rawai is not primarily a swimming beach. Instead, it is famous for its local fishing village atmosphere, seafood restaurants, island-hopping pier, and stunning views of nearby islands.

Freedom Beach is a stunning, secluded white-sand beach located on the west coast of Phuket, between the much more famous Patong Beach and Karon Beach. It's known for its crystal-clear turquoise water, powdery soft sand, and lush jungle backdrop. Because it's only accessible by boat or a very steep jungle trek, it remains far less crowded than its neighbors.

Ya Nui Beach is a picturesque, crescent-shaped white sand beach located on Phuket's southernmost tip, in the Rawai area. It's nestled between two dramatic rocky headlands, with the iconic "The Rock" formation offshore. It's significantly smaller and more relaxed than famous west coast beaches like Patong, offering a more local and natural feel.

Mai Khao Beach is the longest beach in Phuket, stretching approximately 11 kilometers along the northwestern coast, part of the protected Sirinat National Park. Unlike the bustling resorts of the west coast, Mai Khao is characterized by its natural, undeveloped, and serene atmosphere. Its most famous feature is its role as the "Airplane Beach," where jets land incredibly low over the sand at nearby Phuket International Airport.

Nai Yang Beach is a long, curving beach located just south of Mai Khao Beach, also within the Sirinat National Park area. It's known for its shallow, calm waters, beachfront seafood restaurants, and a wonderfully relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. James Bond Island is a dramatic, needle-shaped limestone rock (a karst) jutting out of the emerald-green waters of Ao Phang Nga National Park. Its real Thai name is Khao Phing Kan (เขาพิงกัน), which refers to the island group, while the famous rock itself is called Ko Ta Pu (เกาะตะปู).

EAT & DRINKS

Tom Yum Goong (ต้มยำ) is a type of Thai hot and sour soup where the iconic flavours come from 3 herbs: lemongrass, galangal, and makrut (kaffir) lime leaves. I call these herbs the "tom yum trinity." It can be made with any meat or seafood, even leftover cooked meats, but the most popular version is made with shrimp, i.e. tom yum goong ต้มยำกุ้ง (goong means shrimp).

Moo Ping is a popular Thai street food consisting of grilled pork skewers, marinated in a flavorful mixture and often served with sticky rice.
These skewers are made with sliced pork tossed in a savory-sweet marinade, which balances the saltiness of Thai fish sauce, soy sauce, and oyster sauce with the roasty sweetness of palm sugar. Garlic and white pepper provide plenty of bite. Traditionally, garlic is pounded to a paste in a mortar and pestle with cilantro root, but to make this dish more accessible, mince garlic cloves and substitute minced tender cilantro stems in place of the harder-to-find cilantro root.
are staples in Phuket, found everywhere from bustling street food stalls to restaurants, featuring sweet/savory marinades (coconut, turmeric, fish sauce) and perfect with sticky rice for a classic Thai snack or meal. Look for them at local markets, roadside vendors, especially near beaches and nightlife areas like Patong, where smoky, juicy skewers are a must-try

Kanom Jeen is a type of dishes in Thai cuisine that I like to call "Thai spaghetti." This is because in Thailand, we serve these tender rice noodles with various types of sauces, just like you can pair spaghetti with many kinds of sauces! There are even restaurants that specialize in kanom jeen and you can choose from a buffet line of different sauces!

Hokkien noodles are a simple way to taste the island’s Peranakan roots. We’re talking thick yellow egg noodles, stir‑fried fast in a hot wok with seafood or pork, leafy greens, soy sauces, and a little stock for a glossy finish. Many shops crown the plate with a soft or barely set egg and serve lime, chilli, vinegar, and sugar on the side, so each bowl can be tuned at the table.

Khao Soi: (ข้าวซอย) is a famous Northern Thai coconut curry noodle soup, rich with chicken or beef, egg noodles (both boiled and crispy), and topped with shallots, lime, pickled cabbage, and chili. Originating from Chinese Muslim immigrants from Yunnan, China, it features a creamy, slightly spicy broth and offers a delightful textural contrast, with variations found across Northern Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.
