Tet is also considered everyone's birthday, as each person grows one year older. Therefore, a common greeting is to wish one another a happy new age. Adults customarily give lucky money to children and elderly family members as blessings for the young to grow strong, obedient, and excel in their studies, and for the elders to live long and healthy lives, bringing blessings to their descendants.
